Pilgrims Pride Deli Meat...

   Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, the nation’s second-largest poultry producer announced the largest recall in USDA history. Twenty-seven million pounds of turkey and chicken were recalled due to their possibly being contaminated with the Listeria bacteria. Much of the recalled meat was sold under the brand name Wampler.

   Unfortunately, the recall was too late for many people who have already suffered from the effects of the disease. The sad fact is that the outbreak could have been prevented had Pilgrim’s Pride Corp.

   The negligence of Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation has caused over 120 people to fall ill this year and another 20 people to die needlessly. Many people in the northeastern states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Connecticut, Ohio and Michigan were affected by the horrific listeria outbreak, causing alarm in the federal government and a renewed push to reform the laws that govern meat inspection.
